Uncle Ben’s Den was the subject of a certain social media influencer, who claims to be a fighter of justice. Following these posts, Uncle Ben’s Den received several hateful comments, both on social media and private platforms.
At Uncle Ben’s Den we have always believed that actions speak louder than words. We accordingly elected not to participate in the untrue and unfounded social media campaign lodged against Uncle Ben’s Den. Instead, we obtained the services of an attorney, to have this aspect be dealt with in court.
In addition to the aforesaid, we approached the Pretoria Council for the Care of the Aged (PCCA), a non-profitable welfare organisation rendering services to the elderly in Pretoria and surrounding areas. Uncle Ben’s Den has always had a very close working relationship with the PCCA and its social workers. The PCCA was as such requested to visit Uncle Ben’s Den and report on care and services that is provided to its elderly inhabitants. The feedback was positive, and we were commended for not only the excellent services rendered on our very tight budget, but the amount of care, love and respect that we do it with.
Uncle Ben’s Den has always had an open-door policy, and should any member of the community be inclined to visit us, you will not only be greeted with a warm smile, but it will quickly become evident that the social media campaign lodged against us is unfounded and untrue.
That being said, we thank each and every one of our services provides, donors and members of the community for believing in Uncle Ben’s Den and supporting us through this difficult time. We will continue caring for our elderly with the same care, love and respect as always.
